SAME Engineering and Construction Camps 2014


     The Society of American Military Engineers offers a very unique series of engineering camps designed for High School students who excel in math, science and technical courses and are interested in pursuing engineering in college. These one–week camps are high energy, hands–on events for students from across the country and around the world. The camps are led by a professional staff of engineers from both private industry and the military services. These exciting week–long camps take place during the summer months centered on a military base in the colorful Colorado Rockies, the historic Mississippi Valley or sunny North Carolina.


      Each camp has its own unique focus and theme and is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn what engineers do from professional engineers, learn practical skills and gain exposure to the military services. Your first step is to determine if you are eligible and then go through the application process for the camp you select. The SAME San Diego Post is committed to providing opportunities for eligible candidates to attend in the summer of 2014.  Campers have three options:


SAME/U.S. Army Camp

Dates: June 22 – June 28, 2014
Vicksburg, Mississippi
SAME/U.S. Marine Corps Camp
Dates: June 22 – June 28, 2014
Camp Lejeune, North Carolina 
SAME/U.S. Air Force Academy Camp
Dates: June 26 – July 2, 2014
Colorado Springs, Colorado

The deadline for turning in applications to the San Diego Post is March 21, 2014Email applications to the point of contact shown below.  


     If you are interested in attending one of these camps, please check the eligibility requirements at If you meet all requirements, complete the application form. Return the form and a 1/2-page essay describing your post-high school education and career goals to the point of contact shown below. Email or paper mail submittals are acceptable.


     The San Diego Post will pay airfare and one half of the registration fee for selected applicants. Campers will be responsible for the remaining half of the registration fee ($290). The Post’s Board of Directors will select one or two candidates for sponsorship after reviewing applications.
